Canine Good Citizen Course

This class is a series of seven classes, plus the CGC test, for a total of eight sessions.  The training part of the class will cover the ten points that will be evaluated, at the CGC test. These points include: Greeting a friendly stranger; meeting a strange dog; accepting petting from a friendly stranger; accepting being gently touched on the head, body and both front feet; walking through a crowd; reaction to distractions (audio and visual); walking on a loose lead; being gently brushed; basic commands (sit, down, stay, come); and being left alone with a friendly stranger.

Upon successful completion of the CGC test, each dog and owner will receive, from the American Kennel Club, a Canine Good Citizen certificate. This certificate is suitable for framing. The CGC class is for all dogs. The test is for dogs six months of age and over.
Cost (including test) $100.

Zen Dog

This class will teach owners how to read their dogs’ body language, and to correctly interpret what the dog is trying to tell you. Owners will also learn canine calming techniques and how to re-direct their dogs in stimulating situations.

The goal of this class, is to educate the owner and the dog to a better way of communicating, and to learn skills to be more relaxed and comfortable in all encounters.

The first class, in this series will be for owners only. The second class will be owners to practice on calm dogs brought in for practice. The classes three through eight, will be for dogs and their owners to practice the skills to be taught.  The “Zen Dog” class is for all dogs and puppies.

Cost $85.
