These points include: Greeting a friendly stranger; meeting a strange dog; accepting petting from a friendly stranger; accepting being gently touched on the head, body and both front feet; walking through a crowd; reaction to distractions (audio and visual); walking on a loose lead; being gently brushed; basic commands (sit, down, stay, come); and being left alone with a friendly stranger.

Upon successful completion of the CGC test, each dog and owner will receive, from the American Kennel Club, a Canine Good Citizen certificate. This certificate is suitable for framing. The CGC class is for all dogs. The test is for dogs six months of age and over.
